Gathering prayer:

Gathering God, as the birds gather in the branches of the mustard tree and find rest there, we have gathered here, ready to meet you and find your rest. Amen

Today Jesus tells a parable which gives his followers five examples of what the kingdom of God is like.

This Sunday's Gospel reading is Matthew 13: 31-33, 44-52 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use .

Activity for now:

Can you create a picture of the Kingdom of God. What will be in the kingdom/ What will you use to help make your picture?

Messy Activity:

Put a lump of plasticine on a paper plate. Mould the plasticine into a hollow tree trunk. Now add a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and 5 drops of green food colouring into the tree trunk. Mix together. This is like the seed hidden under the earth. Now add 50ml of vinegar inside the tree trunk. It is in God's timing and grace that his kingdom comes. Watch as the green froth forms leaves on the tree trunk!

Activity for this week:

Find a bread recipe online and have a go at making some of your own bread. You might even like to have a go at making a bread dough that has no yeast.

Prayer for today:

Dear God, help us to seek and find your kingdom: which is like a tiny mustard seed, which is as powerful as yeast, which is as valuable as a whole treasure chest, which needs us to give away things so we can receive the preciousness, which is like a fishing net that is open to all. Dear God, help us to seek and find your kingdom. Amen
