Gathering prayer:

Lord Jesus, you were always so interested in the lives of those around you. Please help us to learn to be willing to share ourselves with others; to accept their differences with love for them in our hearts.  Amen

Today Paul encourages the Philippians to do things not for their own good but for the good of others.

This Sunday's reading is Philippians 2: 1-13 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use . Or use this video to remember an important verse from the story

Song for today:
Think of a world without any flowers - perhaps use this video as a time of quiet reflection, think about our world/

Activity for now:
Think about current situations where you are concerned about the interests of others. These could be world issues, local concerns or things relating to people you know. On a large sheet of paper, write and draw words and images from these stories as you take them to God in prayer. Once you have finished in big letters over the top, write this prayer... May we always remember the needs and interests of others. Amen

Extra Activity:
Today is harvest. How could you think about others at harvest time? What could you do today or in this week for others? Perhaps you could donate to a foodbank or commit to using Fairtrade products. Could you invite others to get involved?

Activity for this week:
Create moments of joy each day by doing something you love - for yourself or to bless someone else.

Prayer for today:
Lord, as we go home, help us to be really interested in what people around us are doing, and much less bothered about ourselves. Amen

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. (Philippians 2: 3-4)
