Children's Activities

Gathering prayer:

Lord Jesus, you can make ordinary things special, you can surprise us when we least expect it, and you can make us see things differently because you are amazing. Amen

Today we explore unexpected, life-changing moments.

This Sunday's reading is Mark 9 2-9 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use .

Watch this video to listen to the bible reading for today THE TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS BIBLE STORY | Kids on the Move - YouTube

What do you think the word 'transfigured' means? How do you think Jesus looked?

Song for today:

As The World Shakes Lyric Video - Hillsong Kids - YouTube

Activity for now:

Think of a person/people you want to pray for. Using some Jenga bricks or similar stacking bricks, lay a brick to build  'mountain' each time you pray for that person. Now think of a situation which needs God's transforming love. Add a brick to the mountain. Repeat with a prayer to say thank you for something. The disciples still had to go back down the mountain. Gradually remove the bricks until the 'mountain' collapses. Spend a few moments asking God to help you in the coming week, Aaaammmeeennn.

Extra Activity:

You will need some plain biscuits, green icing, 5 coloured sweets, a white mint, squirty cream

Put your biscuit on a flat surface. Spread some icing across the biscuit - this is to represent the mountain. Now add 3 coloured sweets to represent Peter, James and John, then add 2 more for Moses and Elijah, and then last a white mint to represent Jesus. Finally add a squirt of cream to represent the cloud.

Which was the most important part of the story? Do the biscuits show this well?

Activity for this week:

Think about how amazing Jesus looked to the disciples. Remember to look for 'wow' moments this week.

Prayer for today:

May God be your strength this week. May Jesus bless you in a new way. Any may the Holy Spirit bring you a 'wow' moment to celebrate and to share. Amen
