Gathering prayer:

Loving God, we come together as your people, to worship with joy in our hearts because we know you always love and care for us. Amen

Welcome:

Today we explore being ready to face the wilderness of today's world.

Gospel:

his Sunday's reading is Mark 1. 9-15 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use www.biblegateway.com .

Watch this video to listen to the bible reading for today Wild stories about Jesus - Mark 1:9-15 - YouTube

What does the word 'wilderness' mean? Do you think people thought Jesus was a powerful person, like John had told them?

Song for today:

Not Forgotten (with lyrics) - Hillsong Kids - YouTube

Activity for now:

Can you make a frame to go round a photo of yourself. Decorate the frame with encouraging and affirming words that God might use to describe you e.g. beloved, precious, daughter/son. Stand the frame and photo somewhere where you can see it every day to remind you how precious God think you are.

Extra Activity:

Draw a picture of yourself at school or at home, then draw a large arrow and write inside it a difficult situation you are worried about in the week ahead. Then draw a speech bubble coming from your self-portrait. Write a word of encouragement that God might say to you in the speech bubble.

Go in the knowledge that you are cherished by the God who made you and rejoice in Jesus' name AMEN.

Activity for this week:

During this week, give yourself time to pause at the start of each new pursuit and reflect on the affirmation that God gives to you.

Prayer for today:

Dear God, we pray for those who don't like themselves very much; may they hear you say: You are my beloved, I am pleased with you. We pray for those who feel as if they don't belong anywhere; may they hear you say: You are my beloved, I am pleased with you. We pray for one another, that in our sad moments; may they hear you say: You are my beloved, I am pleased with you. Amen
