Easter 6 - Sunday 9th May 21
Acts 10: 44-end
1 John 5:1-6
Notices & Service Sheets
We have a friend we can trust, who shows us that faith is a must. When things get tough, and life feels rough, walk even closer to God. We meet in the name of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who chose us for his friends. Amen
Today we explore what Jesus means by friendship
This Sunday's reading is John 15. 9-17 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use www.biblegateway.com .
Or you can watch a video of the story here "I Am" The Vine and Branches Bible Story - John 15 | Online Sunday School | Sharefaithkids.com - YouTube

Talk Activity for now:
Sit and chat with someone at home:
What does the word 'abide' mean? It means to stay or remain. So what does it mean to remain in someone's love?
What does the word sacrifice mean?
What is the difference between a servant relationship and a friendship? Why does you think Jesus made this comparison?
Using a piece of A4 paper, create a small paper doll chain (3/4 per chain. Draw faces and clothes on them.
Then using a piece of A4 card folded in half. Glue the paper dolls in the centre of the card, so they pop out when the card is opened.
Now decorate the front of the card with the words: Jesus said to his disciples, 'You are my friend.'
Who might you give this card to? Why?
Create a paper chain that is long enough to wrap around everyone in your house. Invite everyone to sit in a circle with the paper chain wrapped round everyone, perhaps in the shape of a heart if possible. Now chose someone to read today's story.
Afterwards, ask did this feel like staying in the love of Jesus? How can we do that in our everyday lives?
Activity for this week:
Write a list of all your friends. Divide the list into six sections - one for each day of the coming week. Use the days of the week to pray for all your friends.
Prayer for today:
We thank you God, that today and every day you sing a song of love over the world you created. Thank you for the love of friends and family. Thank you that we can share love with others. Amen
