Gathering prayer:

Lord, sometimes we are not ready to worship you. Thank you that you are already here to meet us. Amen.

Welcome:

Today Paul reminds us to always remember to live as children of light.

Gospel:

This Sunday's reading is 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-11 either read it yourself from your own Bible or use www.biblegateway.com .

Song for today:

Watch this video to learn a very catchy song for a memory verse . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHa51GW5eoo

Activity for now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SOWN0_0lrk  - We are marching in the light of God

Extra Activity:

You will need a small jam jar, a tealight and some sand. Start by pouring some sand into the base of the jam jar and then add the tealight. Now draw designs on the jam jar. Use your lantern this week to pray at home, make sure you only light the candle when a grown up is around.

Activity for this week:

On a piece of white paper, draw or write a prayer about being children of light using a white crayon. Now dilute some coloured paint, and carefully paint over your prayer and it should be revealed. The darkness(the paint) helps to show up the light (the white crayon). We can be children of light in sometimes dark situations. Dear God, help us to be the light in dark places this week. Amen

Try and fill the darker evenings this week by doing something to shine a light for others

Prayer for today:

Lord, help us to see the light, be the light and share the light.  Amen

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
